Moving your Data to and from the Cloud (Auction Tracker)

Moving Auction Tracker data from your Windows computer to Auction Tracker on the cloud:

1. Update your computer's Auction Tracker to the latest release. **It is best that Auction Tracker's data be transferred from an updated copy to an updated copy; otherwise damage to your data can occur.  

a. Open Auction Tracker on your personal computer

b. Select Help > Check For Latest Update

  • Follow all prompts. If an update is due, it will take just a couple minutes.

2. Backup your Auction Tracker data to a file

a. You can click on the Backup Data Files Icon on your menu or

b. Go to Utilities>Backup Data Files. **If you are using Auction Tracker on a network, you must ask anyone else using Auction Tracker to log out of Auction Tracker, before making a backup. By default, Auction Tracker will save the backup file to the\Tracker\Auct-Tr\Archivefolder, with the name formatted asat70_backup (date time).zip.

A Warning notice will appear - read and click on yes to continue

If you wish to save it there, select Continue **Otherwise, if you wish to save to a familiar folder such as Desktop or Downloads, select the three little dots (ellipsis) icon.

  • If you selected the ellipsis three little dots icon, above, a box will open, allowing you to choose where you save the backup file.

3. Send us your data

  • Now that you have backed up your Auction Tracker data, either email the file to us as an attachment or give us a call if you prefer transferring it by Dropbox or otherwise. 

4. We will restore your data and email you back when the cloud is ready for you to access.  


Moving Auction Tracker data from the cloud to your Windows computer

1. Give Remote Desktop Connection permission to save files from Auction Tracker on the cloud, to your local computer

  • Open Remote Desktop Connection by clicking once on its icon but do not log into Auction Tracker on the cloud. 

[You may need to search for Remote Desktop Connection to open it.]

  •  Select More Options or Show Options (depending on whether you are using Windows 7 or Windows 10)

  • Select Local Resources

  • Select More

  • Select the + icon to the left of Drives

  • Check the box next to the C: drive. 

**Saving to other drives, such as flash drives, which are likely named D: E: F: or H: works in many cases as well, but is not as reliable as saving to the C: drive. If you have difficulty saving documents, go back to this screen and leave only the C: drive checked and un-check all other drives.]

  • Select OK
  • Select Connect to log in to Auction Tracker

2. Make a backup of your file from Auction Tracker on the cloud

  • In Auction Tracker on the cloud, go to Utilities > Backup Data Files

  • You must ask anyone else using Auction Tracker on the cloud to log out of Auction Tracker, before you make a backup.

3. Save the Auction Tracker data file to your local computer

  • By default, Auction Tracker will save the backup file to cloud server. To save it to your computer, select the three little dots (ellipsis) icon.

  • A box will open, allowing you to choose where you wish to save the backup file.
  • Scroll down until you see the C: drive on the bottom corner of the screen.
  • Select the C: drive in the bottom left corner
  • Select Users

  • Select your own user name

  • Select a familiar folder, such as Downloads, where you will easily be able to find the file
  • Save the file. It will be named at70_backup (date time).zip with the date and time when it was created.

4. Update your computer's Auction Tracker to the latest release

  • It is best that Auction Tracker's data be transferred from an updated copy to an updated copy; otherwise damage to your data can occur.
  • Open Auction Tracker on your personal computer
  • Select Help > Check For Latest Update

  • Follow all prompts. If an update is due, it will take just a couple minutes.

5. Restore the data you downloaded to your copy of Auction Tracker

  • In case your local computer actually has the most up-to-date data, you would not want to overwrite it. Backup the data on your local computer before restoring the data you just downloaded from the cloud.
    • Select Utilities > Backup Data Files and follow prompts
  • Restore the data you downloaded from the cloud, to your local computer's copy of Auction Tracker
    • Select Utilities > Restore Data Files and follow prompts
