Creating a Backup of your Auction Tracker data
Sometimes you will want or will be asked to pull a backup of your data from Auction Tracker. This is a simple process, you will need to be the only one in your Auction Tracker at the time and if you are on network you will need to make sure you are pulling the backup from the server. For the smoothest data transfer only use real data for phone, city, state, and zip. A blank field is better than bad data. Example: a phone number listed as 0000000000, or a city listed as xxx is BAD for automation because it would not make an exact match and would create a new duplicate record. If the fields are blank it would match POSSIBLE names and not assume they are different people (with the same name) since their contact info appears differently.
1. Update Auction Tracker to the latest release
- Update Auction Tracker to the latest release.
- Go to Help and then click on Check for latest update
- Follow the prompts and accept all defaults. The update will be downloaded from the internet and usually takes 1-2 minutes.
***If your computer has strict security settings, you may need to run \Tracker\Auct-Tr\at70_update.exe as an administrator to update Auction Tracker. To do this, left-click on at70_update, then right-click on it.
Select Run as Administrator
3. Back up your Auction Tracker data
In Auction Tracker click on the Backup Application Icon in the toolbar (it looks like a green arrow over a stack of disks) or you can click on Utilities and Choose Backup Data Files
As a reminder you will get this popup to verify you are the only one in Auction Tracker, once you do this click on Yes. **If you are using Auction Tracker on a network, you must ask anyone else who is using it to log out of Auction Tracker, before you make a backup.
Next, you will select where you would like to have the backup saved. You might want to have the backup saved to a familiar folder such as Desktop or Downloads, to choose where you would like to save your backup:
**By default, Auction Tracker will save the backup file to the folder \Tracker\Auct-Tr\Archive, with the name formatted as at70_backup (date time).zip.
If you wish to save it there, select Continue.
If you select the three little dots icon, above, a box will open, allowing you to choose where you save the backup file.
Once you choose where you would like to save the file click Save.
Then click continue on the Backup File Popup. This will complete the backup process.
4. Save or Send us the file containing your Auction Tracker data
- Email us the backup zip file you made in step 1, as an attachment
- Email yourself the backup if moving to a new computer
